Sex Offender Charged With Failing To Report Address Change In Middletown

MIDDLETOWN, N.Y. – State Police charged a sex offender with failing to report a change of address in Middletown last month, officials said.

Richard Kiefer, 31, is currently classified as a Level 1 sex offender as a result of a previous conviction. He was charged with felony failure to register and verify, state police said.

New York State's Sex Offender Registry Act requires all sex offenders to make proper notifications to the State within ten days of an address change.

Kiefer was taken to Orange County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $25,000 bond.
